sex, drugs, and rock & roll
why does this threesum always exist
to create the sickest and illest cacophony on the art scene
when i don’t need assistance being me
i create my existance
through phrases, lines and stanzas
notes,treble & bass
only accompany
my greatness
drugs never sleep with my creative
alcohol is a bonus additive
Vino the true device
to take me down
shut off the synapses
close the eyes
opening the soul
making dreams my new reality

a substance free creativity
so easy in my being
i allow it as heavenly message delivery
substance free imaginative streak
why is that so hard to strive to achieve
when did it become strange to see
sex and rock & roll with the Lucies and spliffs
Drugs & creative consciousness
Such a common partnership
I begin to wonder
if creativity was never God’s gift
But a seed to be watered
by temple damaging magic pills
liquids that get you lifted
and awkward concoctions
to get you wired

i thrive
in substance free creativity
haze is not what my bars crave
chemicals are not what i need
to make my trills and runs stay
in your ears to marinate

all i need
is
me
a god given message
a heart for delivery
a mode and method for my soul to speak
and lines on a page that are not afraid to get dirty

is my free flowing proclivity
for poet speak
such a rarity
i have become the minority
the naturally unnatural of mercenaries
called to bring peace and harmony
to the country
destined to succeed in world unity
completely substance free
while dispersing my projects
for all to eat and digest
resulting in a changed mission and personality
to be change we want to see
exude the positivity
our youth yearns to be
so our legacy
stretches form sea to sea
hilltop to mountain peak
resting when all are unafraid to accomplish their dreams
listening to their souls preach
through unadulterated creativity
tell me you see a possibility?
Nothing is impossible when you believe

Goosies again

goosies! So i hit up Louder Arts and i was pleasantly surprised… i often dont get goosebumps when poets read or singers sing unless they are REALLY REALLY GOOD AND FANTABULOUS… but for both features i had goosebumps… Micheal lee and Jamila did their thang! So blessed by the stories they shared… i mean the last time i had goosies was in August when Verandah Maureen performed UGLY. So if you haven’t been there you are totally missing out! plus it is only $5-$6 entrance/admission.

So the curly fry laughing,Â David Rey Martinez featured tonight at 116… i was laughing at his ridiculousness! We had such a great time especially when Trixze and David performed Juicy (no David WASNT Biggie).Â

Everyone was great tonight, the vibe was crazy. Just take my word for it…. if you been sleeping under a rock and haven’t heard about the Inspired Word NYC movement…. get up and get moving! You are missing some great comedy, storytelling, poetry, spoken word, and rap! A smorgasbord of spectacular-ness!

I performed “Dulce de Leche (meets Chocolate)” to salute David’s alter ego Curtis Lipdown…since it was his post birthday party… all roads led back to David..

I was gonna do a poem for Vigo since he featured too! But time wasn’t on my side… sorry Vigo! Next time i promise. Vigo performed and killed it.. he does “go hard”! If you were there you would know!

Pierre scared me a bit with his “smile at me and you’ll get pregnant” joke and he looked right at me after… DUDE! IM NOT TRYNA HAVE THAT NOW! Lol!

Storm killed it and sang her “hips” off! See again….if you were there! I love her in your face style poetry! She energizes me everytime i am blessed to see her perform…

The other members of david’s group CMD Comedy were heckling him all night! I loved it.. finally someone can deflect post performance heat off me… Chad and Marlena were awesome!

Sept 30 in 30 is complete

So i started the challenge from Mariel Pauline on Sept 5th and i was worried that i won’t be able to catch up… it is now Sept 30th and i completed the 30 poems in 30 days. I actually wrote 32 poems in 30 days!

It took: 2 prompts, 6 guys, 2 fights with my mother, 1 heavenly father, 1 fallen angel, 30 days observing NYC subways, 1 historic day, 1 challenging concept, 3 future propositions, and 1 forgetful parent moment (“dissent of a college grad” will b tweeted tonight) to lead to 33 poems in 30 days!
