There is always something going on that thins the crowd… first it was snow when i had to reschedule my Brooklyn show and now it’s rain and thunderstorms. But how i have to look at it is..Those that are supposed to be here are here and those that aren’t most definitely are missing out on a blessing!

Boy was I glad i went.
I met some awesome people. From comedic lawyers to late night loving rehab therapists to party animal furniture designers to English criquet playing ex-auditors to travel loving office managers to peruvian foodie hikers to ballroom dancing human resource managers to flirty reiki loving IT specialists and to creative teachers. When something that ends at  6p doesn’t end for you till 8:30p, you know you met some people that you will be talking to and hanging with for a while.

As i mentioned reiki knowledgeable people…. the brother and sister duo told me about my bright green nails (via Reiki For Holistic Health) :

I hope you enjoyed the poetry at least…

It was supposed to be on the beach but it was double booked so we stayed inside. This time there were just comedy and poetry. We could have used more variety as the crowd was a restless crowd with a very short attention span. I loved all the poets that came out and performed. I am inspired by those who challenge themselves and stretch the language barrier and the rules of linguistics to create beautifully painted art called poetry. It is hard to bear your poetic soul for the first time so I am very proud of my Si.Nik artist and Assistant, Cassandra for reading “Heart Hurts.” It is horrible however that the serious poets get overlooked… you are only as good as the performer before you. As poets we had comedians before us and they weren’t making us laugh… as i said it was a tough crowd.

I only read “triangle” and “evaporate” to cater to the attention span of the audience… Those poems will be featured in my upcoming collection of chapbooks, “T.O. Love, Azucar.” Stay tuned for the “Love” buzz party/ 2 yr anniversary of “My Journey…” in December…

My promotions were a hit; I just hope I see some sales improve through the inspiration phrases on the promotions… Although, books weren’t sold, I learned a valuable lesson about how important line ups and audience attention is to the success of your brand.

After enjoying a weekend with the Ladies and my fraternity, it was time to get down to business. I was able to put some of my books in the bookstore by Global Village called Shop One! So all of my Rochester readers, please visit Shop One for your copy.

Afterward, I set up for my book signing and reading at Java Wally’s. I appreciate those that attended and enjoyed the company of my professor and magazine supervisor. The questions from the audience was great and thought provocking. I was overjoyed that I got to meet up with another Sí.Nik artist, Carlos Valentin. It is always refreshing to talk to and fellowship with other aficionados of the written and spoken word. It was great to be back where everything began to get serious; I really nourished my love for the art of poetry within the walls of the College of Liberal Arts and the halls of Unity House and the Student Union. I enjoyed my time so much so that I am planning on a another trip in February for another book signing and am adding a performance to Unity House’s “Tribute.” I have so much memories from U-House… check out the Jackson 5!

It was such a great event. Great talent of all kinds… I hope I can get some of these great artists for my showcase in a few weeks…. I loved performing and getting inspiration from other performers. There was the A.V.E.N.G.E.R.S.(Articulating Verbal Expressions Naturally Giving Everything Rightful Sentencing) crew in the building and Si.Nik Productions artists… Everyone working together to bring forth boundless art.

Shout outs to PureMusiq who killed it with the music for the night!
